The mission of the OCSO Autism initiative is to alert Emergency Responders that there is a person with autism in the home or vehicle. These decals enable Orange County Sheriff’s deputies to draw on their autism training and identify there is a person in the home or car that may not speak, respond to, or comply with verbal commands, may hide, or wander off, or may have no awareness of danger. Working closely with the senior staff of the Orange County Sheriff's Office - including Sheriff John Mina, we aimed to create a design for this initiative that would be easy to interpret to the public as well as law enforcement officials.
